Explore Eastern Algarve
Marked by a Mediterranean climate, the eastern region of the Algarve has a lot to offer visitors, from sunny beaches, to a unique gastronomy, a rich history legacy and idyllic nature areas, are features which make the region an unforgettable destination.
The delightful town of Tavira, located only 10 minutes from Monte Rei Resort features fine examples of Roman architecture as well as traditional Portuguese buildings. The scenic fishing port of Vila Real de Santo António situated at the mouth of the River Guadiana and its 18th century town centre are also interesting examples of the region's heritage. Both towns offer amongst many pleasures, a choice of appealing restaurants serving irresistible selections of fresh local fish.
The Ria Formosa Nature Park and the National Forest of Vila Real de Santo António are wonderful places for long walks, bicycle tours or bird watching, allowing the visitor to observe the local fauna and flora and enjoy moments of pure relaxation.
This is the ideal base from which to explore the Algarve that few tourists ever see, or with Seville just a short drive away, even venture into neighbouring Spain.
